Hideo Kojima’s ‘Death Stranding: Director’s Cut’ to be Released on Mac
Apple’s strategy to attract popular games to their Mac platform seems to be yielding positive results as Hideo Kojima has announced that Death Stranding: Director’s Cut will be released on Mac later this year. Additionally, Kojima Productions’ upcoming games will also be available on the platform, although it remains uncertain if this includes Death Stranding 2. While no alterations have been mentioned, it is likely that an Apple Silicon-based Mac will be necessary to fully enjoy the game.
As with other platforms, this version of Death Stranding is finally a version of the original 2019 release. You’ll see new missions, more boss fights, updated combat mechanics, and activities like racing and a shooting range. If you thought the original version relied too much on cinematic style and not enough on gameplay, this is the one you want.

Like Resident Evil Village, No Man’s Sky, and Stray, this is ultimately a port of a not-so-modern title. You’re probably not going to buy a Mac just to experience Norman Reedus’ courier adventures. However, Apple reflects Apple’s new interest in gaming. Between that, macOS Sonoma’s game mode, and improved portability tools, the company clearly wants titles previously limited to PC and Windows.
